- High Museum of Art - Designed by architect Richard Meier and expanded among three new buildings created by Italian architect Renzo Piano, the High Museum of Art is remarkable both for its construction and its excellent collections of art from the Renaissance to the modern-day. It is known for its achievements by 19th-century French artists and collection of 19th- and 20th-century American art. There is also a rich collection of European landscapes and decorative art, and newer interests include modern and contemporary art, photography, and African art. The museum makes part of the Robert W. Woodruff Arts Center and receives an annual film series highlighting foreign, independent, and classic cinema.
- Oakland Cemetery - The Historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta started as six acres in 1850. It was formerly intended as a garden cemetery. Over the years, especially throughout the time of the Civil War, the site developed, providing those killed on the battlefield. Ultimately, the cemetery came to incorporate 88 acres. In 1884, the cemetery closed selling plots. Finally, this once lovely cemetery fell into decrepitude as those tending the plots passed away or died. In 1976 Oakland Cemetery has represented a National Historic Landmark and the Historic Oakland Foundation was authorized. The association has done enough work to support the cemetery. Today, it is developed as a historic cemetery and parkland with gardens, sculptures, and wildlife. There is indeed a Visitor Center and Museum Shop.
