He obtained permission from the city's General Assembly to change the name and it was approved the same year it was introduced.

Summer temperatures can get into the 90's Fahrenheit, and the days can be very humid and muggy. The winter temperatures stay mild, rarely dipping below freezing. Snowfall is extremely rare in Bigelow, although the city does see quite a bit of rain during the months of June, July, and August.
