Cocoa Beach is a city that is located on the eastern coast of the US state of Florida. Florida is the most extreme southeastern state in the continental United States. The area was first settled in 1888 by freed slaves who moved to the area and named it Cocoa. In 1955 the city was incorporated. During World War 2 Cocoa Beach shrunk because many of its residents moved to neighboring cities to work in the war factories.

Cocoa Beach has a humid subtropical climate, which means hot summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures can reach into the 90's Fahrenheit from time to time but winter temperatures rarely dip below 40. Rainfall occurs year round, but it occurs most heavily during the summer months of June through August. Thunderstorms can be severe from time to time. The city is vulnerable to hurricanes because of its location on the eastern coast of Florida.

The city is fifteen miles away from the John F. Kennedy Space Station, which is NASA's primary space station on the east coast. The city honors the space program each year with the Space Coast Art Festival. Cocoa Beach was the setting for the 1960's TV show "I Dream of Jeannie". A popular tourist spot in the town is the I Dream of Jeannie Lane, which houses memorabilia and sets from the TV show.
