Summer temperatures generally stay in the 80's Fahrenheit and winter temperatures can dip below freezing from time to time. Snowfall occurs during the winter months, but rainfall occurs year round, with most of the rain coming in the months of June through August.

There are several venues for the performing arts in Erie. The Erie Philharmonic was created in 1913 and is one of the oldest philharmonic orchestras in the country. The erie Art Museum houses hundreds of displays of local and international art. The Old Customshouse houses the city’s collection of folk and modern art and also hosts several jazz and blues concerts throughout the year. The most popular theater in the downtown area is the Warner Theater which hosts live performances by theatrical and musical groups throughout the year. The Warner Theater is the center of Erie’s downtown Civic Center.
