Ontario is a city that is located in the southwestern region of the state of California. It is one of the largest cities in San Bernardino County. The city was founded in 1882 when the Ontario Model Colony was established nearby by the Chaffey brothers. They named the city after their home province of Ontario, Canada.

Originally Ontario was a farming community with mostly citrus orchards spread out in all directions. It was incorporated in 1891 and in 1906 northern Ontario broke away and renamed itself Upland. Ontario has a semi-arid climate which means hot summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures generally stay in the 80's Fahrenheit and the winter temperatures rarely dip below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall in scarce in Rancho, but most of it comes in the months of January through March.

Ontario Mills is one of the largest shopping centers in southern California, and it is a popular shopping spot for people from all over the region. It is located near several major highways so it is easily accessible. This shopping mall opened in 1996 and has rapidly become one of the top tourist destinations in the Ontario area. It is located across the street from the former location of the Ontario Motor Speedway.

Ontario International Airport is located near Ontario Mills and is one of the fastest growing airports in the western United States. It offers flights with most major domestic and a few international carriers. It is an alternative to Los Angeles International Airport which is several miles away in the heart of Los Angeles.
