Savannah is a city that is located on the eastern coast of the US state of Georgia. It is the largest city and the seat of government in Chatham County. The city continued to grow until the US Civil War when it was destroyed by General Sherman during his famous "March to the Sea" campaign. After the war the city continued to manufacture and ship goods all over the world. Today it is one of Georgia's most important harbor cities.

Savannah has a humid subtropical climate which means hot, humid summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures can get into the 90's Fahrenheit. The heat is compounded by the high humidity of the region. Winter temperatures rarely dip below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall is fairly common throughout the year, but the most rain falls during the summer months of June through August.

Savannah's downtown district is a National Historic Landmark in and of itself because of the southern architecture there. The city has been called the "Hostess City of the South" because of the legendary southern hospitality that the city has become known for. There are several specific historic locations that are nationally famous, such as the Juliette Gordon Low Historic District, the Savannah Victorian House District, and the Telfair Museum of Art.

The nearest major airport to Savannah is the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. It offers connecting flights to larger local airports such as Atlanta Hartsfield, Raleigh Durham, and Jacksonville.
